    The 10 Commandments of Time

    In physics, motion is a movement in which an object changes its position over time. Motion is mathematically described in terms of displacement or distance per time. The existing definition of time does not address what is the fundamental nature of time. 

    It does not address why events can happen forward and backwards in space, but events only happen in the forward motion of time. 

    The relationship between space and time led physicists to define the spacetime continuum as having 3-spatial directions and time as a reference of when an event happened. This space-time is a description of events happening in a location at a specific time but it’s not a perfect description.  

    It’s easier to see flaws in something than it is to see new ideas. 

    Beware, read these 10 laws slowly or you will misunderstand what they mean. The idea of time has never been fundamentally described by science. Here are 10 laws that time must obey. 

    You Don’t need Time to have Motion

    When you look at the clock this is a type of personal time. You feel that you don’t have time to go to the gym. You feel that you can relax and not move. But your heart keeps pumping blood and you keep breathing. Time is a measurement of your beating heart, the motion is the action. Motion never stops.

    You need Motion to have Time

    The universe must have the power of motion that moves not only matter and energy but thoughts and dreams. This movement exists before it can be measured. A clock is used to measure that motion and the measurement is called time.

    You can see Motion but you can’t see Time

    This seems like a simple idea. We can see physical things like our hands and when we move our hands we see the motion, but not the time. We could measure how fast we are moving our hands by using a clock and then call it an amount of time. Time is a measurement of motion but the measurement is not the motion.

    You can Touch Objects but you can’t Touch Time

    Sure we can touch physical things. We can touch our smartphone and we can see the reading of time but we can’t touch time. We touch a number that displays the measurement of motion. This measurement isn’t the motion of time, it’s a measurement.

    We Measure Motion Using Time and we Measure Time using Motion

    The measurement of motion isn’t the motion and the measurement of time isn’t the time. 

    Time and Motion are related because you can’t have time without motion (atoms are always moving and so is light). But we don’t know what is causing the motion. 

    We measure the motion using tools that use motion. The standard time of one second is defined by the rate of motion in a Cesium-133 atom. 

    When 9,192,631,770 oscillations of the atom are counted by an atomic clock it’s the duration of one second. So you can see that time is a measurement of motion.

    The speed of light has been measured as 299,792,458 m/s and then the distance of one meter is defined as how far light travels in 1/299 792 458 of a second. 

    And the speed of light is used to measure the time to travel to faraway places using light-years. 

    It’s a circular system and it shows how motion uses time and time uses motion. Time is a man-made motion measuring system based on our day that has 86,400 seconds.

    Time doesn’t Make us Old

    Time is a measurement of motion and on earth, we use the motion of a cesium-133 atom to measure motion.

    We can measure our age using a clock and calendar to count the years we have lived. But this is only a measurement of our age and not the cause of our biological age.

    We get older because of unseen things that affect us. The biggest thing is stress, caused by physical and emotional reasons, illness and injury. Our age is a measurement of motion.

    Time is Ruled by Gravity

    We don’t know what causes gravity but I think gravity is what causes motion.

    During the Big Bang event, energy entered the universe with kinetic motion. After the energy changed into matter gravity became the energy of motion. 

    The motion of the cesium-133 atom happens because of the frequency between quarks and gluons using the strong nuclear force during quantum fluctuations that I call quantum gravity.

    We measure this frequency and call it time but the problem with this method is that an external force of gravity will change the frequency in atoms. 

    A cesium atomic clock will change its rate of timekeeping if the environmental gravity changes. This effect has been experimentally and mathematically verified. 

    The change to the clock’s time is called gravitational time dilation. But I have never heard of someone claiming that it’s caused by gravity slowing down quantum fluctuations. Am I the first?

    Time Dilation On Planet Earth

    Now that we know gravity causes time to slow down we must be aware that the standard time on Earth of one second has time-dilation built into our second. 

    The gravitational force on Earth is keeping the frequency of a cesium atom at 9,192,631,770 oscillations per second. The clock will only be accurate if it remains in the same gravity.

    Experiments have proved that if an identical clock is placed at a higher elevation it will tick faster than the reference clock at sea level. 

    The GPS system proves that a satellite clock ticks 45 microseconds faster per day because of gravitational time dilation and 7 microseconds slower due to the force of acceleration. 

    Therefore, time is accurate only if the force of gravity remains the same as on Earth. 

    The Problem with Numbers

    The problem with numbers is that they aren’t real. If numbers keep going on and on into infinity then at what point of infinity do the numbers stop? Never? 

    Never is another kind of infinity (time). Always is another type of infinity of time. Never is zero and always is infinite. 

    The problem with numbers is that they are only measurements of something and a measurement of a thing isn’t the thing. The map isn’t the territory.

    That brings me to the measurement of motion. A measurement of the speed of light is a number to describe the motion of light but it doesn’t explain why the motion moves. 

    We measure one second of motion using the same instrument (atomic clock) that measures the number of vibrations of an atom’s motion. 

    The only way to measure motion accurately is to use a photon clock that isn’t affected by gravity. 

    However, we don’t have a photon clock that works without using a standard Earth-second.

    A pendulum works using the force of gravity and gives you a visible motion of time but it’s not accurate. I don’t know how to measure motion without using a clock.

    Infinity of Time

    Heat is energy and temperature is the measurement of that energy which is the measurement of the motion of atoms. But these measurements are not the atoms. 

    If you keep taking away all the heat and the energy you have to take out all of the atoms, then what is left, nothing?

    In mathematics, nothing is zero but in reality, nothing doesn’t exist. Nothing is an abstract amount of something. 

    If the universe disappears will there be nothing? Where did the energy go? It must have gone to the other side of nothingness which is infinity. 

    What happens if the universe is gone forever? My answer is that infinity always exists outside of the universe while the universe is finite. 

    The universe came from that infinity and the universe goes back to infinity. Infinity is the only thing that exists infinitely.  

    The time in a realm of infinity is eternal.

    What was that? Did you understand any of that bull stuff? I think it’s like trying to sell the Flat Earth theory to an alien in his spaceship. Let’s get real. 

    Don’t try to explain BS to a god, or human, god damn it, you aliens are all fake.

    The Big Bang Energy Event

    Ok, let’s get on with the real story. I have a theory that makes more sense than a field of manure. 

    High energy radiation entered a container of space at the start of the universe. 

    This energy had the power to change first into high energy electrons which have the equivalence of mass. E=mc2

    Energy changed into a lower form of energy that we call a plasma of quarks and gluons.

    The energy at this stage has no mass because the temperature of the plasma is too high to change into matter.

    When the energy cooled down enough it separated into quark-gluon particles and the strong nuclear force emerged. 

    Quarks are the smallest particles in the universe and the standard model of elementary particles shows that 6 types of quarks exist.

    However, only 2 types of quarks make up matter, the up-quark and the down-quark. 

    An up quark has an electric charge of +2/3e  and a down quark has an electric charge of -1/3e. We don’t know why quarks are made of these specific electric charges.

    The gluons are attached to quarks using the strong nuclear force to create stable quark particles that have the equivalence of some mass. 

    The strong nuclear force holds the quark-gluon particles together and there is also a strong attraction to other quarks. 

    At this stage of matter the tiny mass is from the energy coming from the gluon’s attraction to quarks, or maybe the quarks attraction to gluons. 

    Don’t try to add the Higgs Field into the mix, at least not yet. 

    Making Mass from Energy

    The next stage of creating matter comes from quarks looking to attract more quarks to make a stable particle using three quarks and three gluons. 

    These particles are protons and neutrons that are the constituents of all baryonic matter. 

    A proton has 2 up-quarks and 1 down quark for a total electric charge of +1. A neutron has 2 down quarks and 1 up quark for a neutral eclectic charge. 

    Note that the number of protons is equal to the number of electrons in a stable atom.

    During this stage of matter, the force of gravity emerged. It’s a double set of events that produces mass and quantum gravity at the same time. 

    When quarks combine into sets of three the gluons use the strong nuclear force that moves at the speed of light using quantum chromodynamics (QCD) also called the colour force. 

    Quarks are the smallest particles that have mass (not counting photons that are assumed to be massless). We have never seen a quark and we don’t know what it consists of.

     But when a gluon which is thought to be massless attaches to a quark the mass of a quark increases due to the binding energy. 

    The Mass of Binding Energy

    When 3 quarks and 3 gluons form a connection the QCD creates a quantum gravitational force called the colour force that adds 99% of the mass to protons and neutrons. 

    This is the birth or emergence of gravity and it’s because of the gluon’s strong nuclear force. As you can see there was nothing to do with a Higgs Boson or Higgs field.

    Quarks and gluons are the fundamental building blocks of the universe and the source of gravity. 

    These subatomic particles are the smallest particles and they are far smaller and operate at much higher energy levels, than the protons and neutrons in which they are found.

    Physicists had assumed that a quark should be indifferent to the characteristics of the protons and neutrons, and the overall atom, in which it resides. 

    But in 1983, physicists at CERN observed for the first time what would become known as the EMC effect.

    Quarks move significantly more slowly in the nucleus of an iron atom containing many protons and neutrons than quarks in deuterium, which contains a single proton and neutron. 

    Since then, physicists have found more evidence that the larger an atom’s nucleus, the slower the quarks move within the atom.

    Physicists now have an answer to a question in nuclear physics that has puzzled scientists for 35 years. 

    Why do quarks move more slowly inside larger atoms? 

    Scientists found that a quark’s speed depends on the number of protons and neutrons forming short-ranged co-related pairs in an atom’s nucleus. 

    The more such pairs there are in a nucleus, the more slowly the quarks move within the atom’s protons and neutrons. Eureka!!!!

    Quantum Gravity Puzzle Takes Shape

    The source of gravity or the energy of gravity has still not been found. But the speed of quarks in matter gives me a new idea.

    We have suspected that gravity comes from the mass of an object and I have thought it comes from the quantum chromodynamics of quarks and gluons.

    But scientists have tried and they can’t come up with a theory for gravity, I’m not including Einstein’s theory of relativity that only explains how objects move in a field of gravity. 

    The reason why quarks move slower in heavier atoms is probably that there is a greater force of quantum gravity inside large atoms. 

    When the quark-gluon nuclear force experiences more or less gravity its speed will change. If the surrounding quantum force is greater the frequency or vibrations inside matter will change.

    This effect explains why the GPS satellite clocks experience time dilation.  

    The force of gravity in space is much smaller so it allows the QCD energy to oscillate faster.

    The Cesium-133 atom in the satellite’s clock will experience less quantum gravity in space causing the clock to go 45 microseconds faster per day.

    Wow, do you know what that means? I am coming up with the theory of gravity!!!

    The Theory of Gravity

    Here is my answer to gravity and how to measure it. Nobel Prize, please?

    The gluon is the energy carrier that binds quarks with a small mass. Then the quarks attract in groups of 3 to create quantum gravity using QCD.

    The quantum energy is different in protons and neutrons because of the different combinations of quarks having a different electric charge.

    This different combination of quarks and the differences of each atom makes it impossible to formulate a mathematical theory of gravity. 

    My theory states that a theory of gravity doesn’t exist because gravity is present inside objects and that gravity is affected by external forces as shown by time dilation.

    It boils down to Newton’s Law of Gravity. The amount of gravity in an object is equal to the amount of mass in the object.

    Check out the equivalence theory of mass.

    The simplest way to state the equivalence principle is that the inertial mass and gravitational mass are the same things. 

    That’s mass in a nutshell.

    Conclusions

    The Higgs Boson has been named the God Particle, but the science behind the Higgs Field to add mass to particles sucks big time.

    The creation of mass takes place during the construction of protons and neutrons using the QCD that becomes quantum gravity.

    Time dilation is an example of quantum gravity changing a clock’s time.

    The new theory of mass from QCD replaces the Higgs Field mechanism. 

    A standard formula to calculate the amount of gravity doesn’t work.

    The amount of gravity is directly related to the amount of mass.

    Living By The Numbers

    Living by numbers is what we do. We use the numbers on a clock, the numbers of our identification and the numbers of our address to describe us. What are numbers and how do they describe our life and give us time to live our lives?

    What are Numbers

     

    A number is a mathematical object that is used to count, measure and label things. Common numbers are written as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. We define our age and birth date using numbers. 

    Numbers aren’t real things like people but we need numbers to explain things about us. 

    Numbers are abstract entities created by people, and formalized by mathematicians, to have useful properties. Numbers are not real things!!! 

    Nothing is a mathematical point between positive and negative numbers. Numbers aren’t real things and numbers only represent how many items are being counted. 

    If you have several marbles and you give some away until you have none left or zero that’s still a number and not a marble. Marbles are real and numbers are not.

    Your Space and Your Time

     

    You live your life in a location in space for an amount of time. The space you occupy can be described by GPS positioning numbers. 

    You can move from location to location and back again. But time is different.

    You can only move forward in time which is not an accurate way to say it because time is not a real thing like the space you live in. 

    Space is a physical thing such as the place you call home. Time is an abstract thing that we can’t see or touch. Time is a number and numbers are not real.

    What is Time 

    We don’t know the fundamental meaning of time. The following is my best attempt to describe time and how it relates to our life. 

    Time is an abstract thing that doesn’t exist outside of this now moment. Time is a measurement using a clock that counts and works by using numbers. 

    We don’t live in time or move in time. Time is the measurement of motion. Everything we do with time is based on the motion, duration or rate of motion of an event. 

    Time is not the event. We don’t count numbers and grow old and we don’t get old by looking at our watch.

    Physical stuff has 3-spatial dimensions that describe the shape and size of matter.

    Time also has 3 dimensions to describe an event or motion. The 3 dimensions are the past, present and future. 

    The past is becoming now, the present is happening now, and the future is beginning now. That means all 3 dimensions of time are happening at this now moment. 

    Counting The Measure of Time

    We use a tool like a clock to keep track of time but a clock is a motion measuring system. The clock is made to tick 86,400 seconds every 24 hours of an average day. 

    A clock just keeps on ticking at the same rate if it’s resting in the same location. The rate of ticking will change when a clock is moved if the force of gravity changes.

    We use the number of ticks from a clock to measure the movement of motion or the duration and start of events. 

    We measure how long it takes to walk to work. We measure how long until we get out of work. We call this number time. 

    Most people make the error of thinking that time is the same as motion. Motion is what we measure with a clock and then call it time. Time is the measurement of motion.

    Counting the Measurement of Motion 

    It takes 86,400 seconds every 24 hours for one revolution of the earth. Time is the measurement of the event or motion of the earth but time is not the motion.

    We don’t know what causes the earth to move but the movement and the measurement of the movement are not the same things. 

    Think about your heart beating and you measure it has 72 beats per minute, the beating heart is motion, time is the measure of the motion. 

    Time is also a number and numbers are not real. You can’t touch time, smell time, or see time, but you feel time because you have a heart that beats.

    To measure a race we use a stopwatch to see how many seconds it took. We measure the duration of movement and then we call it time. 

    Time is a motion measuring system based on the motion of the earth. But we don’t know what causes the motion of events. 

    We don’t know what force makes the Earth rotate at the rate of 86,400 seconds each day.

     We just measure events using the seconds of the earth’s motion. We call these seconds time but time is an abstract thing and the motion that moves the earth is the cause. 

    Time on a clock is how we keep track of our daily events and calendars are used to track past events.

    Time Dilation Counted

    Time is a number on a clock that seems real but time dilation can change a clock’s ticking rate by the force of gravity. 

    The force of gravity also acts on our biological age but not because a clock’s time changes. 

    We live and move in our earth’s field of gravity and our clocks are standardized to the gravity on Earth. 

    A clock outside of Earth’s gravity will change its rate of keeping time but this time dilation doesn’t change the age of Earth or the universe.

    We don’t understand time and fundamentally science has no definition of what time is except to say it’s based on the unit of one second on earth. 

    Since 1967 the second is defined by the oscillations of a cesium-133 atom. One second happens when the atom has completed 9,192,631,770 oscillations.

    So time is defined by the motion of an atom. The measurement of the cesium-133 atom’s motion is translated into time by counting with numbers.

    Time is counted by how many times an atom moves (its frequency) but time isn’t the motion of atoms. Time is the measurement of motion.

    What came first time or motion? I hope you know the answer.

    Measuring Time Dilation

     

    Time is counted by how many seconds of motion have been measured. The problem with this method is that motion can change and then the time will change.

    The force of gravity changes time because the vibrations (frequency) of matter will slow down and then counting the number of seconds will change. 

    A perfect example of time dilation occurs with the GPS system. The atomic clocks in all the satellites must be updated every day to keep the same time as the reference clock. 

    GPS system of satellites

    The reference atomic clock measures the motion (frequency) of a cesium atom that is experiencing the force of gravity on earth and this clock is used as the real-time.

    In space, the gravity is so weak that the frequency of the cesium atom increases and the clock will count more seconds than the reference clock on earth. 

    Each day the satellite clock counts 45 microseconds faster than the clock experiencing the gravity on earth. Therefore, time moves faster in space.

    But the gravitational force of acceleration on a satellite slows down the frequency of atoms and time goes slower than the reference clock on earth. 

    Each day this acceleration force slows down the clock by 7 microseconds so the total time dilation is 38 microseconds slower than the reference clock on earth. 

    Time dilation in the satellites must be adjusted by 38 microseconds each day or the GPS tracking system will not remain accurate. 

    The frequency of matter depends on the force of gravity and this will change a clock’s time. Time depends on the force of gravity that a clock experiences.

    But remember that time isn’t a real thing. Time dilation is a false time on a clock and it doesn’t change the speed or age of earth or the satellite.

    However, if the force of gravity is extreme like inside stars or black holes then a clock’s time will stop and maybe the frequency of quarks will transform matter into a plasma.

    Counting Our Age

    Time is a measurement of motion using a clock that works by counting numbers. 

    We don’t live in time or move in time. Time is the measurement of motion and age. 

    Everything we do with time is based on the motion, duration or rate of motion of an event. Time is not the event. The action or movement is the event. 

    We don’t grow old by counting numbers and we don’t get old by looking at the time.

    We get older because of unseen things such as gravity, stress, injury or illness. 

    Time is just the measurement of getting older and losing our marbles. 

    My Last Words About Time

    We can keep using our clocks and phones to keep track of time. Gravity and frequencies move the universe and our lives but we measure it as time. 

    We use the time on a clock to measure and document our motion. Understand that time is only a measurement of our beating heart but it’s not our beating heart. 

    Time is a measurement of our life but it’s not our life. You get it?

    Hindsight is always 20-20 vision, but during 2020 our vision was blurry, and our hindsight in 2021 isn’t much better. My memory of 2020 is fading and I’m hoping for better times. Seems to me that we are still struggling to find our new path and a new vision for a better future. 

    On this blog, I offer my vision of cosmology, the science of physics, and the human condition. 

    Wow, that’s a lot to cover on one website. It’s like an elephant in size but we can eat it one bite at a time. 

    Well actually, we are learning and studying one thing at a time to find out how life works on Earth and in the universe. 

    The Frequency of Energy  

    The frequency of light governs its energy.

    Light is a good example of energy in motion. Light is made of photons that are electromagnetic and have a dual wave-particle nature. 

    The E/M spectrum consists of many different levels of energy. Light has the energy defined by its frequency. 

    Radio waves have a slow frequency and weak energy and cosmic rays have a very high frequency and lots of energy. 

    But all forms of light have the same speed, while the level of energy depends only on its frequency.

    Energy Levels in the Universe

    I think the universe has many energy levels just like matter has many levels of energy. 

    Quarks and gluons bind together in different ways to make all the atoms and molecules in the universe. 

    Matter has a level of energy depending on how the quarks or protons and neutrons are arranged. Matter is further separated into solids, liquids, gases and plasma. 

    Does the universe have many energy levels? 

    When I started to study cosmology I was positive that the universe has many dimensions instead of one dimension that we call the 3rd dimension. 

    But now I have changed the way I am thinking about dimensions. 

    There are only 3-spatial dimensions of physical matter and the definition of dimensions conflicts with the idea that other dimensions are possible. 

    But when you separate energy into frequencies you realize that many levels of energy exist.

    Therefore, I look at the universe as one dimension or realm that is made up of several levels of energy. My vision of the universe mirrors the energy levels of matter.

    I think the lowest energy level is the 3rd dimension that was created during the Big Bang event. 

    But I think we have entered a new energy level of the universe and I feel that the frequency of matter has increased. 

    We have evidence of energy increasing in the universe. Nikola Tesla said to understand the universe think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration. 

    We have noticed that the universe is expanding but now we can see that it’s accelerating its expansion. I perceive that as proof that the energy is in motion. 

    The energy on Earth has also been increasing and we blame it on the use of fossil fuels. 

    That’s the logical and scientific explanation so how would we even think that the reason could be that the frequency of energy is increasing?

    Could climate change be caused by the energy movement of the universe? 

    Maybe the sun has increased its energy levels and the Earth is responding to the energy in ways that we don’t know. 

    Climate change must have a source of energy that’s the cause of it and a greater frequency of energy from the sun could be the cause.

    Have you noticed any other changes lately? What about the new virus pandemic? 

    Could a higher frequency of energy levels cause virus mutations? 

    We are seeing a new version of the Covid-19 virus that could be called Covid-20. 

    My 2020 vision is based on other events…

    One month ago I suggested that the new energy that our planet is experiencing is evident in the unusual unrest in people and higher levels of stress. 

    I mentioned in the blog that even Donald Trump the president of the USA was making more of his stupid remarks than his normal amount. (but what’s normal for a crazy mind?) 

    Last week we witnessed just how crazy he is or how deeply his infection with the Covid-19 virus affected him. It was simply like out of a movie about aliens or the devil. 

    He still doesn’t admit to losing the election and is trying to create a civil war that resulted in one woman being shot and killed in the storming of Parlament on Jan-6th. 

    I think he should be arrested immediately and impeached before he does more damage. 

    He has the money and power to pay his supporters millions of dollars to assist in his crazy plans for Trump-power?

    The Vision of New Energy

    A new vision means that soon all the pollution in the world will be eliminated and the air will be clean and rid of the old frequencies of carbon-based fuel. 

    Hydrogen fuel cells are already being used in China in eclectic transports and some cars in California are using hydrogen as a fuel. Check out this stock FCEL or PLUG on Nasdaq.

    In a couple of more years, regular gas-powered cars won’t be made, in 10 or more years you won’t find any gas stations. 

    But that’s still the tip of the new energy. Vehicles will be self-driven with AI robotics. This will almost eliminate all traffic accidents and save thousands of lives each year. 

    My favourite news involves 5G wireless systems but don’t invest in companies building 5G towers to deliver 5G. Instead, invest in Apple, iPhone 12 has 5G built into it. 

    The world is going to be 5G wireless everywhere without any dead spots and it’s going to cost less than $10 per month but maybe only if you have an iPhone. Why do I say that?

    Apple corporation is the largest and richest company in the world and they have a secret plan to branch into being a service provider of 5G wireless, called AppleFi. 

    They will make cars that run and navigate by 5G using Artificial Intelligence, no need for a driver’s license or car insurance! How is this possible?

    I hear that Apple with the expertise of Tesla will put 3,000 satellites orbiting the earth and thus change the energy on our planet into a superpower in the universe. The future is here now…

    Do we always have the freedom of choice? We love the word “Free” don’t we? We are born with free will to do whatever we want. But there are consequences to our actions, we could hurt ourselves or someone else physically or emotionally. 

    Freedom of choice means that the person can choose his course of action and his way of living, subject to the requirement that he shall not act in any way to violate the freedom of choice of others.  And then there’s karma… 

    What is Free Will

    The human condition is a fragile one. This blog is about science but to be a well-balanced human, we should learn to blend our spiritual body with our physical body.

    The physical world works not only with science it also needs the spiritual energy of Mother Earth. We don’t control how nature works or how our bodies grow. 

    We have been given the gift of free will on planet Earth. That means we control our destiny. Each person is responsible for the life they live and the lessons they learn.

    We are entitled to our personal preferences and choices but only if they do not affect the human rights of others.

    We are here to experience living as a physical being in a physical world to learn and evolve our consciousness. The ultimate reason for evolution is to experience and evolve love. 

    Think about it like this, if we knew who we are we wouldn’t be able to make the decisions we make. 

    For example, angels don’t have free will to do as they please because they exist only to support the energy of God and his love. 

    If you use your power of free will inappropriately you must endure the lesson of karma. If you continue to ignore your lesson it will haunt you in your spiritual afterlife. 

    There’s no way to escape your lessons because they follow you and your spirit or soul will suffer when you are born into the spirit world. 

    I know this sounds corny and unbelievable but it’s the ultimate truth, our soul never dies.

    Freedom in the World of Politics and Taxes

    In a democratic country, we can choose who to vote for or to not vote. We can use our right to vote and hope that the collective vote made the right decision. 

    If things go wrong as they always do, then we have the freedom of speech to voice our opinion or to protest in public as long as we obey the law.

    We don’t have the right to commit vandalism, steal or destroy public property. Like I said we have the free will to do what we want as long as you pay your taxes and follow the rules.

    Some of the rules are written in stone and are called the 10 commandments. Some of the rules keep you safe, don’t drink and drive, don’t jump in the water if you can’t swim, and then there are Amber Alerts etc… 

    Social Media and the Freedom of Clicking  

    Social media gives us news about our family and friends and we have the freedom to like their posts and to click “like” or comment.

    Has Social Media become a problem when it takes up so much of our time and attention?

    You know that you’re gonna get pushed around by life but don’t spend time complaining about it on social media and telling everybody because 80% don’t care and 20% are glad it’s you and not them.

    Has your Smartphone and smart TV taken away your attention and become smarter than you?

    We are glued to these devices all day watching to see if there’s any news for us.

    The Amber Alert Choice of Freedom

    Certain things are not your choice as the world becomes more and more digital. For instance, the Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to wear a surgical mask in public. 

    You must carry an ID card with your photo and birth date and if you have a smartphone your information is known to most large companies. Do we have any privacy? 

    The Amber Alert system started in Texas a few years after 9-year-old Amber Hagerman was abducted and murdered in 1996. 

    Amber Alerts started in Canada in Alberta in December 2002. The alerts for cell phones started in 2010 and the tone of the alert is mandated by the Canadian government.

    The Amber Alert system is mandatory for cell phones in Canada so that you will hear all emergency alert colours unless your phone is turned off. 

    You can’t decide to turn Amber Alerts off or have it on Do Not Disturb mode. You don’t have the freedom of choice to not use it. 

    Proving That Amber Alerts Work

    A research team led by criminologist Timothy Griffin reviewed hundreds of abduction cases that occurred between 2003 and 2006 and found that AMBER Alerts had little apparent role in the eventual return of abducted children. 

    The AMBER Alerts tended to be “successful” in relatively mundane abductions, such as when the child was taken by a non-custodial parent or another family member. 

    There was little evidence that AMBER Alerts routinely “saved lives”, although it was impossible to know with certainty what would have happened if no alert had been issued in a particular case. 

    Timothy Griffin and coauthor Monica Miller articulated the limits to AMBER Alert in a subsequent research article. Here are their statements…

    “They stated that alerts are inherently constrained because to be successful in the most menacing cases there needs to be a rapid synchronization of several events (rapid discovery that the child is missing and subsequent alert, the fortuitous discovery of the child or abductor by a citizen, and so forth).”

     “Furthermore, there is a contradiction between the need for rapid recovery and the prerogative to maintain the strict issuance criteria to reduce the number of frivolous alerts, creating a dilemma for law enforcement officials and public backlash when alerts are not issued in cases ending as tragedies.” 

    “Finally, the implied causal model of alert (rapid recovery can save lives) is in a sense the opposite of reality: in the worst abduction scenarios, the intentions of the perpetrator usually guarantee that anything public officials do will be too slow.” 

    More Concerns About Amber Alerts

     

    Workers in the system decide if an alert and when an alert is sent? It seems that they are sent out with little investigation because workers are afraid of being blamed if an event became tragic. 

    A few weeks ago there was an Amber Alert in Ontario that a mother had kidnapped her 9-month-old baby. I think this type of alert is an over-reaction use that can result in people ignoring alerts.

    There are many colors of alerts and the most serious is a Red Alert. They would be for catastrophic weather, war or major security concern that affects every citizen. 

    A significant concern is that most alerts are sent out at night time when people are asleep or driving in conditions that are dangerous in the best of times. 

    The sudden loud noise disrupts the attention span of people that could lead to a serious accident endangering many lives. 

    I’m not suggesting that we eliminate the Amber Alerts but I wonder if there is a better way to make it work?

    My idea is to start the alert like a regular phone call with maybe 3 seconds of a lower tone that builds into the loud alert signal currently being used. 

    That gives people a fair warning before the numbing alert sound, unfortunately, if you are asleep it will wake you up but if you are driving then you are prepared for the message.

    You can never satisfy 100% of the people but it’s worth trying this instead of scaring people with the blaring signal being used now at least here in Ontario, Canada.
