The Time In Your Life

The Time In Your Life

Time is the most important thing that we don’t own. We need to use it wisely and spend it on important things like being happy and healthy.

The time in our lives is intertwined with the energy that gives us the experience of life and then slowly takes it away.

The power of time is different than you have realized. Time is a personal history of your life in ways you don't know.

It must have been boring when I was in school because I don't remember anything except all the pretty girls. When I was at home all alone, I wasted time thinking about girls instead of my future.

I can forgive young people for wasting their time because they don't realize that their brain isn't fully developed until 25 years old.

Looking back on my youth, I can see that it's true. I started acting like an adult at 25, and I'm still trying to reach the age of wisdom.

Young people don’t place any value on their time. They often feel bored, and time moves too slowly for them. Have you ever felt that way?

Then when you are old, you notice that time moves quickly. This story about an old man and a young man explains it.

Looking At a River of Time

An old man sat with a young man on the shore of a wild river. The young man asked, “Why does time seem to flow constantly but also flows slowly or fast like a waterfall?”

The old man looked at the water in the river and said.

“You see, there are some large stones in the river and many small pebbles. Imagine that the river is like the time in your life.

If you only celebrate big occasions – like your wedding, buying your first home, having a baby, or starting a new business – you will celebrate your life in a few moments, like jumping from one stone to another.

However, if you move in small steps over the pebbles, taking joy in small things: a sunny day, the beauty of the autumn forest, a good conversation.

Then later, looking back at your life, you won’t see only the big stones, but lots of your small pebbles will be remembered with a happy smile.

And you will see that the road that you have lived is much longer.”

But the young man asked,

"When I love doing my work or talking with friends – the time flies fast. But the time moves slowly when I’m sick, when I’m afraid or when I feel bored?"

“You see,” the old man answered with wisdom, “this is what it should be."

"When we are unhappy, we don’t fully live; we only exist, so time is still in your mind. And when you are happy, you don’t notice how fast time flows."

So, celebrate all the small pebbles in your life and they will live in your memory just like the big stones.

Dreams Come True

How you use your time matters, and it’s never too late to follow your dreams.

I was married for 27years, and I loved photography each and every year. When I retired from my day job, I had a dream to be a full-time professional photographer.

I purchased an existing photography business and worked full time doing what I love.

Eventually, I was named Canadian photographer of the year in commercial photography.

My dream came true, but I have another dream.

I want to explain time and the meaning of life to you and anyone interested in time.

Time can do so much or nothing at all. It's up to you to know how time works and what to do with the time in your life.

Time is multidimensional, and it's difficult to explain because it's not what we think it is.

If you think time is what a clock shows, you are right. But isn't there something else that time does? Yes and no…

Time is multi-faceted, and it feels like motion and looks like a number.

“I don’t have the time.” always means, “it's not a priority.”

When we care, it’s incredible how much we can get done.

My book is almost ready for publication, but it won't be in bookstores or widely promoted.

The only people who can spread it are you, my esteemed and trusted blog readers.

It's always up to you to do what you want. Live your dreams and help others live theirs.

Thanks for reading my newsletter at https://lovinthings.com/

You are appreciated. Take care, and be well.   See you next time.
