How Does the Theory of Relativity Change Time
The theory of relativity says that the faster the speed, the slower time passes. And that the greater the gravity, the slower the time.
Are these effects added together? How does it work?
The theory of relativity and time is explained as one phenomenon that affects matter.
The new atomic clocks show us how gravity can change a clock’s time. Gravity affects all matter in the same way.
The GPS satellites show us how it works.
In space, gravity is less, and a satellite's clock ticks 45 microseconds faster per day than a reference clock on Earth.
There's a force of acceleration on a satellite that slows down the clock by 7 microseconds per day, so the result is that a satellite clock ticks 38 microseconds faster per day than a clock on Earth.
The time changes because, in space, the clock's atoms have less gravity and a faster frequency allowing the clocks to tick faster than a reference clock on Earth.
The satellite stays in orbit because it has an acceleration that balances the force of gravity pulling it to Earth.
The acceleration force is similar to gravity and causes the satellite clock to tick slower.
These two forces add together, and the clock shows time differently than a reference clock on Earth.
Clocks are affected by gravity.
The faster it moves, the greater the acceleration making a clock tick slower. The less the gravity, the faster a clock ticks, or the greater the gravity, the slower a clock ticks.
Does Relativity Change Time?
The mistake many people make is thinking that the time on a clock changes physical things.
Time is what a clock shows, and time doesn’t cause any change to matter.
Gravity is a force that changes matter.
We use time to measure the speed of motion and our activities.
Think of it this way. Gravity affects clocks in the same way gravity affects us.
If we go into space, we become weightless, and if we go to a planet like Jupiter, we will have difficulty moving in the stronger gravity.
But the rate of time and motion in the universe doesn’t change.
The clock's display (time) doesn’t have any power to change anything.
If a clock’s ticking stops, it doesn’t make a difference to the universe. Everything keeps moving without clocks.

How do you know you exist? You observe the natural world and your experience living.
We haven’t seen or experienced more than three spatial dimensions.
Dimensions are descriptions of things. However, if you mean do other energy levels exist in the universe?
On Earth, we see four energy dimensions of matter. Matter can exist in four energy levels.
Water has energy levels of ice, liquid, gas, and plasma.
Water takes the shape of a container, such as a cup full or an ocean.
Ice floats on water even though it's solid, but glaciers can move across continents and level rock.
Gas or steam can power motors or burn the world into a lifeless state.
Plasma was the primal state of the universe, and the Sun is a plasma.
We know energy exists in these four levels. Does space have different energy levels?
We see black holes in the middle of galaxies that exist with energy levels we can’t imagine.
Beyond the observable universe, there might be energy levels that defy the imagination.
We don’t know if the universe is moving into other energy levels (dimensions).
We can only observe what we experience and imagine that different energy levels exist. Is this all there is?
